After working self employed for 11 years I am now in a position to emigrate abroad so sadly will no longer be able to continue the business hence the sale.
I started the business originally doing gardening and general diy stuff. From there I progressed to full on projects and small jobs for customers.
On a typical weekly basis I will do a broad range of jobs ranging from a leaking gutter to painting a wall.
No two days are ever the same.
This business would suit someone practically minded who fancies giving self employment a go and has some knowledge to get started.
In effect you will be buying a turn key business where you can commence work immediately as there is currently a one to two month waiting list for customer appointments.
In with the sale I will include the van and a phone with the business as well as the rights to my advert in the local business booklet each month which covers a large area from halifax outwards as far as Brighouse and Todmordon.all my power tools which is things such as a circular saw, impact driver, sds drill, stone grinder, pressure washer etc.
I also have a plethora of hand tools for many different jobs such as building work, plumbing and electrical as well as some 3 tier ladders for those hard to reach gutters etc..
The van itself is a 2012 Ford transit connect lwb Trend so has all the niceties like electric windows and auto lights etc.
Has done 149k miles from new but has around 7 months mot remaining and was fully serviced last year with all belts, tensioners and fluids changed.
I serviced it again myself this year.
The van comes with a new clutch ready to go in as this does slip from time to time but is not a huge issue at the moment, Also the anti roll bar bushes will require replacement at some point but I will try and get these done before the sale.
Standard head unit comes with the van as this has been switched for a much more modern xtrons touchscreen android unit with sat nav and dab etc. This works like a phone in effect so you can hook up your phone via bluetooth or just browse youtube on your morning coffee break.
The van has marks and dings as with any van nearly 10 years old so to be expected but is very reliable, starts every morning and still looks the part when polished up.
As the past 2 years have gone, work has grown exponentially and the business is at the point where a second person could also be employed full time. I currently work with my brother who is a fantastic worker so you will have the option to keep him on if you wish as he is knowledgable about many jobs.
The current take of the business turnover sits at about 50-65k per year with 35k profit personal take home pay.
As with any business these numbers vary every year depending how good it has been but recent 18 – 24 months has shown a positive uptrend in profits and cashflow and I estimate this could rise higher with more staff and vehicles brought on.
Now is as perfect a time as any to expand the business and start pulling in some big numbers each month with the right management and staff but this will be totally your choice. It was my original intention in the next 18 months.
My client base currently sits at around 300 – 350 past customers who bring in regular work between them every year as well as 5-6 new customers every week and dozens of enquiries as well, these are of course all included in the sale so you can always find work off someone even on a quiet week in late December!.
